Abstract

Critical thinking skills are skills that must be had by science teachers in the current 4.0 industrial revolution era. Indicators of critical thinking skills that must be possessed include trigger events, namely identifying problems, exploring thinking about personal and social ideas in order to make a decision preparation, integration that is constructing the intent/meaning of an idea, and integrating relevant information that has been set at the exploration stage, and Resolution is implementing and testing a solution. This research was conducted to determine the critical thinking skills of physics education students in solving problems in lectures on thermodynamics. The research sample were 30 physics education students at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas Palangka Raya who programmed the Thermodynamics Course and taken randomly. Evaluation of critical thinking skills consists of 8 questions that ask students to complete in a structured manner. The results showed that by applying the critical thinking skills evaluation instrument students had: 55% trigger event skills with low criteria, 45% exploration skills with very low criteria, 35% integration skills with very low criteria and 30% resolution skills with very low criteria. The results of this study are the basis for recommending the need for a learning model or approach that can be implemented in thermodynamic lectures to improve the critical thinking skills of trigger events, exploration, integration, and resolution of physics education students.

Abstract

This research aims to produce IPA learning devices with the approach of Socio-Scientific Issues (SSI) on climate change materials to improve the science literacy of Junior high school students. The learning devices developed are syllabus, learning Implementation Plan, Student teaching materials, Student Worksheets, and Science literacy test. This type of research is development research with the model Dick and Carey. Test learning devices in the classroom using one group pre-Test post-Test design. The research instruments in this study are validation sheets, learning implementation observation sheets, activity observation sheets, test sheets, and student response polls. Data collection using validation methods, observations, tests, and polls. Data analysis techniques use quantitative descriptions. The results of the study show that learning devices are declared worthy of validity, practicality, and effectiveness. The validity aspect indicates that the learning device is very valid and reliable. The practicality aspect of the practice of learning has an average 3.66 with excellent criteria and an student activity is very active. The average achievement of science literacy from 32 students in class VII A when pre-test was at level 2 experienced an increase when post-test was at level 4. Based on N-Gain test the value of 0.50 is on medium criteria. Students ' response to the application of a Socio-Scientific Issues (SSI) approach to climate change material is very good.  Learners give a positive response of 87.60%.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the students scientific attitude between students who followed science learning by applying the society technology science approach and conventional learning approach. This type of research included quasi-experimental research with a non-equivalent post-test only control group design. In this research paper involved 52 students of 5th grade of SD Inpres Andi Tonro in the academic year 2018/2019. Sample were chosen by using technic of simple random sampling and determination of the sample is based on the use of the formula Slovin. Data on scientific attitudes of students were collected by questionnaire. The data obtained were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistical analysis techniques (separated variance t-test). The results of this study described that the students scientific attitude of the experimental class (using the society technology science approach) with an average score of 123.00 is classified as a very high category while the students scientific attitude of the control class (conventional learning approach) with an average score of 108.73 is classified as high category. There was significant difference in students' scientific attitudes in the group of students who learned using society technology science approach compared to the group of students who learned using the conventional learning.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Hypothetico-Deductive Reasoning method in Learning Cycle 7E on students' critical thinking skills. The design of this study is quasi-experimental with nonequivalent control group design and implemented at SMPN 1 Baureno with a population of all class VII. The sample used was 2 classes, namely class VII A as an experimental class and class VII B as a control class. The critical thinking ability test consist of 7 essay questions. It can be concluded that students' critical thinking skills are in good criteria with an average percentage of 72.61%.

Abstract

The research objective is to obtain a picture of the readiness of learners in the implementation of learning based on socio-scientific issues (SSI). This student readiness description is reviewed from the variable of thinking skills, especially science process skills (KPS). If the student KPS is low, then the learner is actually not ready to be involved or participate in SSI-based learning. The research targets were junior high school students, high school students, and students of one of the PGSD study programs in FKIP of a PTS (Private Higher Education). KPS data for these three groups of learners was obtained using documentation and post facto methods. KPS data for junior high school students is taken from the results of Astuti's research (2018) and Jannah (2016). KPS data for high school students is taken from the results of the National Examination (UN). This data group collector uses the documentation method and data was analyzed descriptively. The KPS PGIP FKIP student data in a PTS is the result of an assessment using KPS questions that Monica has developed (2005). Student KPS data were analyzed descriptively. The results of KPS data analysis for junior high school students concluded that KPS for students from two state junior high schools in Surabaya was still relatively low. Nationally, KPS of SMA / MA students tends to be low. The national average percentage of students answering correctly the UN questions containing the KPS component in the last three years (2016-2018) is 46.97; 39.09; and 51.08% respectively for experimental design, data interpretation, and identification and control of variables. These percentages have not yet reached the classical completeness rate of 80%, so it is concluded that the KPS of high school students is relatively low. The same trend occurs at the level of the city of Surabaya as well as the province of East Java. The target KPS of PGSD students was also low. Mean KPS score of students on indicators identifying and controlling variables, stating hypotheses, making operational definitions of variables, interpreting data, and designing experiments in succession 73,14; 47.33; 43.33; 64; and 62. The average KPS score is still low, not yet achieving the lowest good score (70). The results of the study: (1) students' science process skills (KPS) in junior high, high school, and a PTS PGSD study program are classified as low and (2) not all learners are ready to be involved in the implementation of socio-scientific issues (SSI) based learning in terms of aspects of learner experiences specifically the ownership of science process skills

Abstract

The aim of this research is to describe the validity of high-quality lesson plan to apply the direct instruction model equipped with Multisim software to improve the science process skill of Vocational School student. This research is development research where in the research design the development of lesson plan adapted from 4D models (four D models). Further, in order to get the validity of developed lesson plan, it needs to perform the validation by the experts. This research shows that validation results of the developed lesson plan are obtained final average scores as follows: score 3.75 categorized highly valid and percentage of agreement in the assessment that given by three validators is 96.82% for Syllabus. Score 3.72 categorized highly valid and percentage of agreement in the assessment given by three validators is 95.15% for the scenario of Lesson Plan. Score 3.79 categorized highly valid and percentage of agreement in the assessment that given by three validators is 95.33% for Work Sheet. Score 3.47 categorized valid and percentage of agreement in the assessment that given by three validators is 87.34% for Assessment Sheet, and score 3.67 categorized highly valid and percentage of agreement in the assessment that given by three validators is 94.26% for Text Book.
